Replacing the release film on a Chitu Systems Hoopat quick-release resin vat is designed to be straightforward. This step-by-step guide explains how to install a compatible PFA or ACF film, secure the film frame, mount the resin vat and check it before printing.
Hoopat is available in several versions, including X2M, X3, X4, X4H and X5. Select the correct Hoopat model and film for your printer before starting. Seal-ring versions and X4H have additional installation considerations described below.
Before You Start
Prepare a clean, level work surface, the correct pre-cut PFA or ACF release film, and the seal ring if your version requires one. Switch off the printer, remove the resin vat and empty any remaining resin safely before handling the film. Keep sharp tools and debris away from the release-film surface.
Important: If your Hoopat uses the new seal-ring configuration, follow the official Hoopat instructions for its assembly. The new film with a seal ring can be used with older compatible Hoopat vats, but the old film without a seal ring is not recommended for the new Hoopat version.
How to Install Hoopat and Replace the Release Film
Step 1: Unbox and Position the Vat
Take Hoopat out of its packaging and place it gently on a flat, stable surface. Make sure all four corners are supported before beginning the installation.
Step 2: Release the Four Clips
Open all four clips around the edges of the vat. Once they are disengaged, carefully turn Hoopat upside down on a clean, stable surface to access the bottom film frame.
Step 3: Remove and Position the Film Frame
Remove the film frame and orient it as shown in the photo below. Keep the side with the small protruding cylindrical pegs facing you to prepare for fitting the release film.
Step 4: Install the PFA or ACF Release Film
Place a compatible, pre-cut Hoopat PFA or ACF film flat against the frame and align the holes as indicated in the illustration. Check for wrinkles, folds or misalignment before securing the frame.
Film orientation matters: PFA film has two protective layers that must be removed as directed. ACF film has one protective layer; install it with the frosted side facing down toward the printer LCD. Incorrect film orientation or leaving protective layers in place can damage the film and cause leaks.
For seal-ring versions: Use the diagram below as a visual reference for seal-ring placement. Check the official model-specific instructions for the correct assembly order before securing the clips. Skip this step if your version does not use a seal ring.

Step 5: Reinstall the Frame and Secure the Clips
Carefully return the assembled film frame to Hoopat, keeping the release film flat and correctly positioned. Close all four clips fully. Inspect the entire edge to ensure that the frame is seated evenly and the film has not shifted or become damaged.
Step 6: Mount Hoopat on the Printer
Place the assembled Hoopat on the compatible resin printer in the correct orientation for your model. Tighten the two vat-mounting screws where provided to keep it securely seated.
For X4H on ELEGOO Saturn 4 Ultra 16K: The pouring spout must face outward so the heating contacts at the bottom align correctly with the printer. Refer to the X4H installation instructions if the printer reports a detection or heating error.
Step 7: Check the Resin Level Before Printing
Before returning to normal printing, inspect the vat for leaks and confirm that the film and clips are securely assembled. Add resin according to the MIN and MAX level marks for your specific Hoopat model. Avoid overfilling, particularly when the build plate enters the resin.
Resin capacity differs between vat models and printer setups, so do not apply a single fill weight to every Hoopat version.

Can I use the new seal-ring film with an older Hoopat?
Yes. Chitu Systems states that the new release film with a seal ring can be used with older compatible Hoopat vats. However, old films without a seal ring are not recommended for the newer Hoopat configuration.
Which way should ACF film face?
Install ACF with the frosted side down, facing the LCD screen. Remove its protective layer and align the film holes with the frame before locking the clips.
Does screw-free film replacement mean the vat needs no mounting screws?
No. Hoopat's quick-release design avoids the many screws typically used to secure a release film. Depending on the printer model, the assembled vat still attaches to the printer using its usual mounting screws.
How much resin should I pour into Hoopat?
