Conjure Tough Resin Review

Conjure Tough Resin Review

The overview about the Conjure Tough 3D resin

Conjure tough resin has good mechanical properties, designed for functional prints and small minis that request flexibility and durability. The print detail quality is not the best compared with Conjure sculpt, but you can mix it with other resins. We highly recommend trying our Conjure rigid and Conjure sculpt for display pieces like figures and tabletop minis.

More detailed information about the Conjure Tough 3D resin

Tough engineering resin-printed parts can be folded multiple times without breaking an excellent surface finish. Very tough and suitable for soft-touch applications, functional prototypes, and iterative designs.

For example, grips, handles, buffers, straps, pads, etc. Today, I want to introduce the Conjure Tough 3D resin to you. The following are the features of this resin. It is really non-brittle and mixable. Great toughness to make your prints non-brittle. Its print detail may not that good, you can mix it with normal resin to get better detail with moderate mechanical properties. This type of resin is a functional gadget.

Conjure tough is not a flexible resin, but you can expect prints with good flexibility. It has 50% elongation at break, which is good for some rubber-like function gadgets. The Conjure Tough 3D resin is durable. Higher viscosity means better mechanical properties, you may need 1~2s more exposure time, but it is worth getting more durable prints.

What’s more, it has a longer shelf time. Conjure resin has an 18 months shelf time, and the package protects resin very well from leaking.

There are some reasons why you choose this resin

If you request prints with non-brittle and durable, the Conjure Tough 3D resin is a good choice. This resin has ultra-low Shrinkage: 0.2~0.7% shrinkage can avoid much post-processing. It can mix with standard resin to make it not that brittle.

The Conjure Tough 3D resin has high Toughness. 50% elongation at break means the print has good flexibility and protects the prints well when dropped. Lastly, this resin is good for viscosity with better mechanical properties. You may need 1~2s more exposure time but it is worth getting more durable prints.

How to choose the right resin?

This brand has released 3 types of resins., which are Conjure Tough, Conjure Rigid, and Conjure Sculpt. Both 3 Conjure resins are tough-like types, It depends on what you are going to print.

For miniatures or figures, the details and unbreakable are key demands, you can use Conjure Sculpt resin, or mix the Siraya tenacious with normal resin.

For FDM printing parts. you can use the Conjure Rigid or Tough, it has a better surface and is much faster than FDM printers, after painting you get almost the same durability.

For dental or other users you may have to find professional customized series like Formlabs. Each resin elongation at break is 50%, 35%, and 32%. The HDTs are 70℃, 70℃, and 70℃. All of them are Compatible with LCD/DLP printers. The different resins have different features.

The first resin feature is that excellent toughness makes your minis real nonbrittle. it is more affordable than most other tough resins. and can mix with normal resin to make them tougher.

The second resin feature is that it has great machinability, the best choice for functional gadgets print similar to FDM printing.

The last resin feature has high precision with a very smooth surface and is tougher than normal resin, the best choice for highly detailed prints.

How to use this resin?

Shake well before use, prohibiting the use of resin in places where there is a lot of sunlight.Wear gloves before use to avoid direct contact with the skin and keep the room ventilated.Inadvertent contact, as soon as possible use a lot of water rinse. If you feel unwell, seek timely medical attention.

Printed models need to use high-concentration alcohol to clean about the 30S (recommended concentration of 95% or more, the higher the better).Do not pour the resin in the resin vat into the unused resin, and do not leave the resin in the resin vat for a long time without use to avoid resin pollution affecting the printing effect(a long time without the resin can be introduced into airtight containers or sealed with plastic wrap shading save).

3D printing workflow you need to know

Make sure to wear nitrile gloves anytime you intend to handle liquid resins. Check the model. Make sure to prepare your model well, so as to not get a failed print, you should check the orientation, dig a hole, and support settings. Printing profile settings. (exposure time, lift speed, etc.)Your local printing environment and resin setting greatly affect the final print quality. Conjure series resin requests a temperature of 25-30 ℃.

Check printer status before printing. Make sure your vat is clean,(no extra piece in the vat, or it will affect the quality). Make sure your plate leveling well, for normal resin, it is easy to print, The Conjure series resin, especially for the sculpt resin has a higher viscosity, you have to level the bed very well before printing, It has shallow penetration depth making the adhesion between layers not very strong. (For bigger printers the leveling is more important).

Adding more lifting distance and reducing the lifting speed will help to get better results. Shake the resin before use. You need to shake the bottle for a few minis if your resin is not used in a long time. Clean the prints. It is better to clear the resin before post-curing because the chemical reaction is not completed during the first printing. There is uncured resin left on your prints.

We recommend using Ethanol or IPA and a painter brush (or any brush made of hair) to remove uncured resins. Ensure the prints are cleaned well if you have a wash station. For some complex prints, an ultrasonic cleaner is the best choice to clean them. Dry and post-curing. Dry the prints before curing them, and use 395~405nm UV light for about 60s to cure them.

If you need more time to cure the prints, maybe your prints are not cleaned with wall putty and Paint to make the prints more durable. The resin material is not that good in durability compared to the filament. The humidity and light affect it even if it is post-cured.

Storage method:

Keep away from light seals at room temperature. (Sunshine contains a lot of UV light, which will solidify photosensitive resin. After testing, the light is not affected as long as it is not UV light).It is recommended to save at 25 ℃ -30 ℃ ambient temperature, the lower the temperature, the higher the viscosity of the resin. Sealed storage, excessive dust, or moisture can affect print quality. Sunshine contains a lot of UV light, which will solidify photosensitive resin.

To sum up, this resin you deserve to have a try this!
